Jen Schumacher is a 25-year-old marathon swimmer from Southern California. Over the next two years, she will be racing to become the first human being to conquer The Ocean's Seven, seven of the toughest open water channel crossings in the world. She's dedicating her swims to 3MF and its International Whales Network. “I'm passionate about protecting whales and combating the effects of over-fishing, climate change and pollution — especially plastics — on all marine life,” says Schumacher. The Third Millennium Foundation

3MF was established in 1987 by David McTaggart, former Chairman of Greenpeace International. It became the base for the work of McTaggart and a small team — including current Executive Director Leslie Busby and Secretary/Treasurer Doug Falkner — after McTaggart’s retirement from Greenpeace
in 1991.

March 23, 2011, marked the 10th anniversary of McTaggart’s tragic death in a car accident in Umbria, Italy, a country and people he loved dearly. We pay tribute to this remarkable man and his fighting spirit and update you on our efforts to establish an environmental center in his name. MORE >>
